BARRINGTON – Residents rejected a proposal for a $2.33 million bond to fix up the Old Town Hall Tuesday.
Article 12 – which needed at least 769 of the 1,282 votes cast to reach a three-fifths majority – failed 668-614. It would have allowed the town to obtain the bond to renovate, construct and equip the Old Town Hall.
Additionally, Article 25, which would have used $50,000 to establish a Library Replacement Capital Reserve Fund, was defeated 711-549.
All articles passed on the school side.
Incumbent Moira Taylor and Becky Kula received 737 and 648 votes, respectively, to defeat Michelle Veno, who received 563 votes, for two three-year vacancies on the school board.
Incumbent Michael Clark and Frederick Bussiere received 950 and 864 votes, respectively, in an uncontested race for two three-year seats as selectmen.
