STRAFFORD – Two of the three incumbents seeking reelection as selectmen and to the school board were beaten by challengers at the polls Tuesday.
A total of 400 votes were cast, 13 percent of the town's 3,002 registered voters.
James Anderson beat incumbent Selectman Lynn Sweet, 287-43, for a three-year term on the board. Sweet was elected to the Planning Board. Meanwhile, Sarah Kern defeated Kathleen Corcoran, 174-150, for a three-year position as library trustee.
On the school side, Brian Monahan and incumbent Carol Lord received 212 and 191 votes, respectively, to win two three-year seats on the school board.
Incumbent Debbi Hinrichsen and Mary Dempsey, received 156 and 154 votes.
Residents will decide on school matters during the annual district meeting tonight at 7 while the annual town meeting is Saturday at 8:30 a.m.
Both events will occur at the Strafford School.
