McCracken named chief of MCHC

MANCHESTER - After a nationwide search, the Manchester Community Health Center has named Kris McCracken, a 16-year employee of the organization, to be the next president and CEO, replacing Ed George, who retired in December.

McCracken has worked in human services and nonprofits her entire career, first coming to MCHC as a crisis counselor. She has worked in the areas of domestic violence, parenting issues, HIV, rape crisis and substance abuse. She received her undergraduate degree from Mount Holyoke College in psychology and Latin American studies and received her MBA in health care administration from Rivier University.

"I look forward to continuing to find opportunities such as this one to expand access to health care through partnerships locally with the hospitals, Dartmouth-Hitchcock and many other organizations," she said in a statement.

Unmanned aircraft could create NH jobs

The unmanned aircraft industry is poised to create more than 439 new jobs in New Hampshire in the first three years following the integration of unmanned aircraft systems into U.S. national air space, according to the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International.

Integration is scheduled to take place in 2015. Beyond the first three years, the study projects that more than 649 new jobs will be created in New Hampshire by 2025. The numbers include both direct and indirect manufacturing jobs.

"In recent years, unmanned aircraft technology has grown remarkably and is already proving useful in a range of domestic applications," said Michael Toscano, president and CEO of AUVSI, in a statement.

BAE Systems awarded $66M contract

NASHUA - BAE Systems Inc. was awarded a $66 million contract for the AN/AAR-57 common missile warning systems, according to the Defense Department.

The contract is in support of foreign military sales for United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. Work will be performed in Nashua, with an estimated completion date of March 6, 2015, the department said.

Exit strategy topic of forum

DURHAM - Why founders and CEOs should plan an exit strategy will be discussed at the next meeting of the University of New Hampshire CEO Forum on March 21. The program begins at 8 a.m. in Huddleston Hall with coffee and networking, with a full breakfast at 8:30 a.m.

Brad Sterl Jr., founder and CEO of Ever Better Eating Inc., a veteran of the restaurant industry, will discuss how every founder and CEO must plan an exit strategy as part of an overall effective business strategy.
