Dartmouth College baseball came up short of breaking the school record for consecutive victories to begin a season, losing 7-3 to Slippery Rock (13-4) in Auburndale, Fla., Wednesday. The loss ended the eight-game win streak, leaving Dartmouth tied with the 1903 Big Green for the best start to a season. Dartmouth was the only undefeated Division I program left in the country entering Wednesday's game.
Slippery Rock, ranked 28th in the most recent collegiate baseball Division II poll, scored six times in the second inning. Nick Lombardi had an RBI double and Joe Purritano added a sacrifice fly for the Big Green. Trent Goodrich drove in the other run with a groundout.
