OTTAWA - The Boston Bruins found the cure for their blues at a favorite watering hole.
Dennis Seidenberg's shot from the point with 64 seconds remaining in regulation found the net as the Bruins snapped out of their first losing streak of the season with a 2-1 victory over the Ottawa Senators on Thursday night.
It was the Bruins' 11th consecutive win at Scotiabank Place and Seidenberg's first goal of the season.
The loss snapped a three-game Senators winning streak.
The Bruins were coming off two regulation losses for the first time this season,
Kaspars Daugavins scored his first of the season for the Senators.
Daniel Paille had his sixth for the Bruins.
Anton Kudobin made 27 saves in the Boston net and Ottawa's Robin Lehner blocked 27 shots.
On the deciding goal, Patrice Bergeron won a faceoff in the Senators zone and the puck went back to Zdeno Chara, who teed up Seidenberg's blast.
After a scoreless first period that saw the best chances occur around the Boston net close to the buzzer, the Senators hit the board 4:55 into the second.
Daugavins beat Kudobin on the glove side with a shot that at first appeared to be deflected off the blade of Mika Zibanejad or Chara's high stick. If it nicked either, it was the one belonging to the Bruins captain. After a review the goal, it was declared good.
The Senators were 1:22 from taking the lead into the third when Paille's wrist shot from the right wing circle slipped through Lehner's catching mitt. It was the 17th shot of the game for the Bruins.
Notes: Senators defenseman Sergei Gonchar entered the night with an eight-game points- scoring streak that tied a franchise record and was the longest in the NHL this season ... The Bruins arrived in Ottawa as the NHL's top team in the faceoff circles with a 57.3 percent success rate. Patrice Bergeron was the league leader, winning 61.9 percent of his draws ... The Senators were without stalwart defenseman Marc Methot, who suffered a knee injury Tuesday in Long Island. "He's probable for Saturday," said coach Paul MacLean, whose team will be at home against the Tampa Bay Lightning ... Ottawa fans gave right winger Daniel Alfredsson a standing ovation in the first period as recognition for him reaching the 1,100-point plateau Tuesday in Long Island. ... Boston defenseman Adam McQuaid missed the game with an arm injury suffered Tuesday in Winnipeg. Drawing into the lineup was Aaron Johnson, who had previously been scratched for all but five of Boston's games this season. ... The Bruins complete their four-game road trip Saturday in Toronto.
