Six players who were chosen Player of the Year from their divisions by the New Hampshire Basketball Coaches Organization will be among the talented seniors competing in the annual NHBCO Senior Granite State basketball games on Saturday at the Goldie Crocker Wellness Center on the campus of New Hampshire Technical Institute, Concord's Community College.
Four games are scheduled, the first two involving the girls. The 1 p.m. opener features the Division III all-stars against the Division IV all-stars. The 2:30 p.m. contest finds Division I playing Division II.
The boys hit the court beginning at 5:45 p.m. when Division III battles Division IV followed by the 7:15 p.m. nightcap between Division II and Division I.
The Division I boys team will be led by NHBCO Player of the Year Troy Pelletier of Manchester Central along with first team selections Dominic Paradis of Spaulding of Rochester, Jeff Lunn of Bishop Guertin of Nashua and Mabor Gabriel, who led Trinity to the Division I state championship this season. Second teams selections on the Division I squad include Jack Preston of Nashua South, Kaleb Marquis of Concord, Tyler Livingston of Alvirne of Hudson, Nick MacGregor of Spaulding of Rochester and Tong Akot of Manchester Memorial.
Leading the Division II team is career 1,200-point scorer David Hampton of Lebanon along with first team NHBCO selections Brandon Len of Souhegan of Amherst, P.J. Flaum of Hollis/Brookline and Matt Persons, who guided Pembroke Academy to its undefeated Division II championship season. Four second team selections on the squad include Rene Maher of Pembroke, Nick Lloyd of John Stark of Weare and Portsmouth's duo of Ben Landry and Travis MacDonald.
Devin Springfield of Conant of Jaffrey was selected as the Division III Player of the Year as he led the Orioles to the state title. He will be joined by fellow first selections Drew Francoeur of Somersworth, Steve Auger of Hopkinton and Max Goveia of Campbell of Litchfield. Second team selections on the team are Dimitri Giannos of Berlin, Logan Roberts of Prospect Mountain, Jordan Richard of Raymond and Danny Kulbacki of Hillsboro-Deering.
Leading the Division IV team is Player of the Year Christian Hawkins of Newmarket. Three first team selections are Nick Whipple of Littleton, Zach Burns of Profile of Bethlehem and Nick Peters of Concord Christian.
Second team selections playing Saturday are Josh Bogardus of Littleton, Josh Eisfeller of Newmarket, Frank Slanley of Epping, Elias Doucette of Pittsfield, Hunter Lambertson of Gorham and Travis Chase of Pittsburg/Canaan.
On the girls' side Meghan Green of Bishop Guertin was selected as the NHBCO Division I Player of the Year. She was also the only senior selected to this year's first team. Two seniors selected to the second team include Sam Breslin of Pinkerton and Carly Gould of Winnacunnet of Hampton.
The Division II team features five seniors selected to the first team including Player of the Year Moriah Morton of Lebanon, who led her Raiders to the state title. First team seniors Dina Pitsas of Milford, Emily Kehoe of Lebanon, Ellie Flaum of Hollis-Brookline and Alicia Brown of Portsmouth will join forces with second team senior selections Meaghan Flynn of St. Thomas Aquinas of Dover, Kelsey Schiebel of Windham, Bernadette Connors of Windham and Rebecca DeBaldo of Pelham.
Lindsey Nerbonne of Bow, the Division III Player of the Year who led the Falcons to the state title, headlines her squad along with first team selections Rachel Hill of Somersworth and Chelsea Payer of White Mountains of Whitefield. Second team selections on the team include seniors Suzie Barry of Bow, Angie Roy of Winnisquam of Tilton, Abigail Harris of Gilford and Jill Roberts of Franklin.
Three first team senior selections will lead the Division IV team including Makenna Burke, who ended her career with a state title win at Groveton. First team selections Josee Brunault of Colebrook and Annaliese Schmidt of Newmarket will join forces with second team picks Sage Anthony of Pittsfield, Dori Horne of Littleton and Bekah Adams of Pittsfield.
The NHBCO will present special awards to players and coaches including the Mr. and Miss New Hampshire basketball awards.
