EAST KINGSTON - The search has ended for an elderly woman who was reported to have left her home in a wheelchair early Friday morning.
Madeline Marshall, 77, was found safe shortly after 6 a.m. about a quarter-mile from her home, according to East Kingston Police Chief Reid Simpson.
Simpson said Marshall was reported missing from her home around 4:30 a.m., but is believed to have left the residence earlier in the morning.
State police, along with East Kingston police, fire and ambulance, began a brief search and located Marshall in the area of 23 Maplevale Road. Simpson said she was found adjacent to the road.
Her wheelchair and other items were found a short time later.
Simpson said Marshall will be treated at a local hospital as a precaution.
