Marine Corps honors Central High alumnus

Gunnery Sgt. Damian LeClair, a native of Hooksett, has been named the Marine Corps Enlisted Logistician of the Year and was presented his award March 14 during an awards dinner in Washington, D.C.

LeClair, a unit movement control center chief with Combat Logistics Regiment 15, 1st Marine Logistics Group, was honored for his work last year in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

He and his team of five Marines provided logistical support to more than 15,000 personnel within Regional Command Southwest, according to the Marine Corps website. "In a given month, they processed approximately 600 logistical requests including food, equipment, gear and supplies, often working 13 hour days to push supplies to coalition forces," according to a story on the site.

LeClair has been in the Marine Corps since August 1997, after graduating from Manchester Central High School. He is married to Cindy Behrmann, who is from Manchester, and has a daughter, Anisia.

LeClair also has served in Operation Iraqi Freedom, on the USS Peleliu, in Okinawa Japan and in South Korea. His next assignment, starting May 1, is at Camp Johnson, N.C., where he will instruct logistics operations.
