UPDATED: Belmont woman killed in Meredith crash

MEREDITH BERGERON

MEREDITH - A 22-year-old Belmont woman who was a student at a Boston college was killed early Sunday morning when her car slammed into a parked car in a driveway near Old Center Harbor Road, police said.
Meredith Bergeron, of 107 Cotton Hill Road, Belmont, was driving alone traveling east on Route 25 in her 2005 PT Cruiser when she apparently lost control and hit a 2007 Ford Focus in a driveway at 182 Route 25 at 2:36 a.m., according to Sgt. Michael Harper.
Bergeron's vehicle came to rest in the westbound lane. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Both vehicles were totaled, police said. Police are investigating whether speed or alcohol played any role in the crash.
Police were assisted at the scene by workers from the Meredith Fire and Rescue Department, Stewart's Ambulance and the state medical examiner's office.
Bergeron was a graduate Belmont High School's class of 2008, and was a student at Emmanuel College in Boston, Mass., where she had been studying health care, according to Linda Frawley, a family friend. Her father, Dick Bergeron, is a retired police chief from a Massachusetts community, and her mother is a health-care worker, Frawley said.
Bergeron's family was devastated by the death, she said. "She was this delightful young person, this is such a tragedy," Frawley said.
