Dover budget forum aims to let residents give feedback on priorities
DOVER - Residents will have a chance to give their feedback on budget priorities at an upcoming forum.
City Manager Michael Joyal will lead the "Budget Revealed" forum, which is scheduled to begin Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Media Access Center - Room 306 - at the McConnell Center.
"The proposed budget will not be presented until April 10," Joyal said, adding officials continue to work through the process.
The school board proposed an operating budget of $46,225,864, which is $27,055 - or 0.06 percent - less than the approved $46,252,919 budget for the current fiscal year, according to www.dover.k12.nh.us.
"The budget preparation is not complete," Joyal said in an e-mail.
Until April 4, residents can complete an online survey - accessible at http://tinyurl.com/csomobe - which asks participants to rate budget priorities.
Residents can also use "Dover Dollars" at the City Hall to provide input on five areas, which include: public safety, public education, public infrastructure, economic development and fiscal stewardship.The details from both programs will be presented to the officials, who can use the information to help shape the budget. Joyal will present a proposed budget to the City Council in April.Joyal said the intention of this week's meeting is to explain the budget process, including how it is managed, to residents.The presentation will air later on Channel 22 and be available on the city's website: http://www.ci.dover.nh.us/.
