Portsmouth FB coach Murphy steps down

Bill Murphy, who led Portsmouth High School to NHIAA Division III championships the past two seasons, has stepped down as head coach to assume a reduced role with the team, the website nhfootballreport.com is reporting.

According to the website, Murphy, 65, said his successor will be selected from his staff of assistants.

Himself a longtime Portsmouth assistant before becoming head coach, Murphy took over the program in 1995, nhfootballreport.com reports. He led the Clippers to the division final in six of the last seven seasons.
