NH College Roundup: Plymouth State baseball team gets back to its winning ways

The Plymouth State University baseball team returned for its Florida trip Wednesday to regain its winning touch, beating Babson, 6-1, in a non-conference game at Babson Park, Mass.

The Panthers (8-6) had lost their final four games in Fort Myers, Fla., but came back north and rode Rew Wilson's nine-inning gem on the mound to beat the Beavers (6-4). Wilson allowed three hits, waked one and struck out 11 to even his record at 2-2.

Ryan McIntosh of Lincoln (Lin-Wood) and Jeff Runnals of Wolfeboro (Kingswood) combined to drive in three runs in the 2-3 spots for the Panthers.

Dartmouth 15, Siena 7: At Hanover, the Big Green (12-1) won their home opener for the 12th time in 13 years and they made it look easy, pounding out 16 hits. Dustin Selzer and Matt MacDowell had three hits each.

Amherst 8, Keene State 0: At Amherst, Mass., freshman pitcher Eddie Dionne of Concord pitched four scoreless innings before the Lord Jeffs (8-4) got to him for seven runs over the next two frames. Ian Seawards of Dover had two hits for the Owls (5-10).

Women's lacrosse

UNH 16, Iona 0: At Durham, the Wildcats (3-6) won for the third time in four games, rolling past the Gaels (2-8) as Nicole Grote had three goals and a career-high four assists.

Vermont 16, Dartmouth 15: At Hanover, the Catamounts (5-6) scored five unanswered goals, including the game-winner by junior attacker Samantha Gallerani of Bow in double overtime, to stun the Big Green (6-3).

Colby-Sawyer 13, Salem State 12: At Salem, Mass., overtime goals by Sara Berry and Alyssia Janak lifted the Chargers (1-4) past the Vikings (1-3) for their first win of the season. Laurel Bower of Bradford (Tilton) led Colby-Sawyer with two goals and two assists.

Men's lacrosse

NEC 11, Southern Maine 8: At Gorham, Maine, the Pilgrims (3-4) scored the first five goals of the second half to power past the Huskies (3-4). Brian Gillis led NEC with four goals and an assist.
