FAA invitation raises hopes of Nashua airport official that tower will continue to operate

The Federal Aviation Administration's conference call invitation to all 149 airports scheduled to lose their control towers due to sequestration cuts came as a surprise to one local airport official.

Nashua Municipal Airport Authority Board of Commissioners Chairman Donald Davidson said the conference call, scheduled for April 2, is making him cautiously optimistic that perhaps the airport's tower might not close as scheduled April 7.

The FAA informed Nashua airport officials Thursday that they are invited to take part in a conference call hosted by J. David Grizzle, the chief operating officer of the Air Traffic Organization Division, and FAA Administrator Michael Huerta.

"I don't want to get too excited, but I find (the request) surprising. We'll be there listening to what they have to say," Davidson said.
