Police say man was intoxicated, seriously hurt in Hampton crash
HAMPTON — A Sandown man was critically injured when he was thrown from his car in an accident late Thursday, Hampton police said.
Corey Laycock, 24, was flown to Tufts Medical Center in Boston for treatment of critical injuries, police said.
Police said Laycock was intoxicated when he drove south in the northbound lane of Route 1 about 11:45 p.m. Thursday and tried to turn onto a ramp that connects the southbound side of Route 1 with its northbound side.
His 1999 Oldsmobile went over the edge of the road and rolled down an embankment, landing on its roof, police said. Laycock was thrown from the car.
Police said Laycock will be charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, driving the wrong way on a one-way road and possession of a controlled drug. Police did not say what drug Laycock allegedly had.
