Police arrest man after giving wanted brother's name

MANCHESTER - Police said a motorist who thought there was a warrant out for his arrest identified himself as his brother when he was pulled over for speeding - only to be arrested anyway because his brother was wanted for operating a motor vehicle without a license.

Robert Moreau, 39, decided to come clean when he was being booked Saturday under his brother's name, police said. Police said Moreau had a valid license and there were no warrants for his arrest, but he was promptly arrested for providing a false name to an officer.

He was booked on charges of disobeying a police officer and violation of bail conditions set on a prior theft charge.

Police said had he given his real name when he was pulled over Saturday morning on Valley Street near Beech Street, he probably would have received a speeding ticket or he might have just received a warning.
