Fisher Cats fall at home

New Hampshire starter Marcus Walden gave up two runs in the first inning, and the Fisher Cats never recovered in a 6-1 defeat to Reading on Friday night in Manchester. Phillies prospect Jesse Biddle, a power lefty, didn't allow a hit until a leadoff double in the fifth inning by Nashua's Kevin Nolan.

Biddle worked six innings to earn his first Double-A win, and Reading (1-1) tacked on a pair of runs against reliever Randy Boone. Nolan, Clint Robinson (two singles) and Sean Ochinko combined for New Hampshire's four hits.

The Fisher Cats (1-1) host Reading today at 1:35 p.m. at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
