Two robberies, two communities, same woman?

Police are trying to figure out if the same woman robbed a restaurant in Manchester and a general store in Derry four days later.

"Obviously, there are a lot of similarities between the two robberies and we are working to determine whether or not they are connected," said Manchester Police Lt. Maureen Tessier.

Last Wednesday night, a woman who claimed she had a gun went into the restaurant about 7:40 p.m. and demanded cash. The woman is described as white, in her 20s, with dirty blonde hair and wearing a gray jacket and pink, hooded sweatshirt. No gun was shown. She fled in a small, blue, four-door car that police said was driven by a woman with long, dark hair.

There were no customers in the restaurant at the time of the robbery and nobody was injured, police said.

Four days later, on Sunday at 6 p.m., a blonde woman robbed the East Derry General Store on East Derry Road. She told a clerk she had a gun in her pocket and ordered the employee to go behind the counter and empty the register. No weapon was displayed.

That robber is described as a white woman, about 5-foot-4, weighing 120 to 130 pounds, with blue or green eyes, blonde hair and wearing a green, hooded sweatshirt under a black North Face jacket, with jeans and sneakers.

Derry Police Capt. Vernon Thomas said surveillance video captured images of both the robber and a blue, four-door Dodge Neon that police believe was involved in the Derry robbery.

Anyone with information about either robbery is asked to call Manchester police at 668-8711 or Derry Police detective Christopher Talbot at 432-6111.
