WAKEFIELD - An early morning fire at a vacant house on the corner of Province Lake Road and Ballards Ridge Road ripped through the building and caused damage to nearby power and cable lines.
Wakefield Fire and Rescue Department Captain Sam Morrill said the fire was first reported at 3:26 a.m. Thursday.
No injuries were reported, but the fire was intense enough to melt the arrays of power and cable lines on the corner.
Morrill, who had just returned to the fire station shortly before 11:30 a.m., said the damaged lines may have caused a temporary power outage and downed services for Time Warner Cable.
"We just got the phone back," said Morrill this morning.
