NHIAA Roundup: Hollis/Brookline girls tip North in lacrosse

Meghan Sweeney and Danni Cambray scored in overtime to give the Hollis/Brookline girls' lacrosse team a 9-7 victory over Nashua North on Thursday at Nashua's Stellos Stadium.

Sweeney led all scorers with four goals to help the Cavaliers raise their Division I record to 1-1. Hollis/Brookline received 22 saves from Erin Turner, eight of which came in overtime.

Ellie Schuman and Kate Upton each scored twice for Nashua North, which is 0-1.

Bedford 20, Portsmouth 18: At Bedford, the Bulldogs turned in another strong offensive performance and improved their Division II record to 2-0. Bedford was coming off a 14-1 triumph over Timberlane. Portsmouth, which dropped to 1-1, opened with a 21-2 victory over Merrimack, last year's Division II champion.

Derryfield 19, Gilford 2: In Manchester, the Cougars won their home-opener behind goalie Cat Green (three saves).



Boys' lacrosse



Souhegan 16, Salem 5: At Amherst, Mack Walker collected three goals and seven assists and Mitch Hale added four goals and three assists to help the Sabers improve their Division I record to 2-0. Salem (0-1) trailed 7-2 at halftime and 12-4 after three quarters.

Derryfield 18, Kennett 3: At Manchester, Matt Milne collected six goals and two assists to help Derryfield raise its Division III record to 2-0. The Cougars led 12-2 at halftime and 16-3 entering the fourth. It was Kennett's opening game.



Baseball



Hanover 4, Plymouth 1: In Plymouth on Wednesday, right-hander Joe Cravero took a perfect game into the sixth inning and a no-hitter into the seventh before settling for a one-hit gem. He faced 25 batters, and walked three in the complete-game victory.

Cyrus Rothwell-Ferraris hit a solo homer in the seventh inning for Hanover.

Pinkerton Academy 9, Alvirne 7: At Derry, Pinkerton's Matt Marchman collected three hits and four RBIs and Rick Casey added four RBIs in Pinkerton's victory on Wednesday.

The Astros trailed 7-6 until they scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth.
