When the company launched in 2003, Kamen predicted its factory would soon be pumping out 10,000 machines a week. As of 2011, slightly more than 80,000 units had been sold, Brown said. The company sold roughly 8,000 Segways last year, he said, and had revenue of about $60 million. In its efforts to quickly raise those figures, the company will release a new, three-wheeled scooter and an updated version of the i2, its flagship model, by the end of the year.
