30 boats destroyed in fire at Ashland's Riveredge Marina

ASHLAND - About 30 boats were destroyed in a two-alarm blaze Sunday night at Riveredge Marina at Squam River.

Capt. Jeff Uhlman said the cause of the fire remains undetermined. Investigators from the state’s Fire Marshal’s Office are expected on the scene later today.

The fire was reported Sunday at 10:38 p.m., and a second alarm quickly was called due to heavy flames visible in the boat house. All hands were working the scene by about 11:15 p.m., according to fire dispatch.

Uhlman said the building was designed for boat storage and for boats to drive into it from the river. The fire "pretty much" destroyed it, he said.
