New Hampshire Club Notes

Sheryll Ross, left, docent of the Clark House Museum in Wolfeboro, talked to the Winnipesaukee Chapter of DAR about the museum's summer schedule and need for tour guides. She's with chapter Regent Nancy Ramos.

Hollis Woman's Club offers New York City day trip

HOLLIS - The Hollis Woman's Club has scheduled its annual spring day trip to New York City for Saturday, May 11. Anyone is welcome, including spouses and children.

The $65 fee includes a bus ride to the Big Apple, which people can then explore on their own.

The bus will leave at 6 a.m. from the Tyngsborough, Mass., Park and Ride, and leave New York City for the ride back at 7 p.m. For more information, contact Susan Benz at susan.benz@gmail.com or 465-3607.

Salem Woman's Club to wrap up season Tuesday

SALEM - The Salem Woman's Club will have its final meeting of the season Tuesday, at Kelley Library on Main Street.

A luncheon will be served at noon by hostesses Jan Landry, Lorraine Amirault and Ellen Ventura.

Amirault is the club's outstanding member of the year. She will be honored at the General Federation of Women's Clubs of New Hampshire's annual meeting Friday, May 10, at the Sheraton Portsmouth Harborside in Portsmouth. Honorees will receive an honor roll pin and a small gift while their accomplishments are read.

"Lorraine is always willing to help," said Co-President Dorothy Falco. "Whenever we ask her to help, she is right there."

Co-President Beverly Johnson said Amirault, who joined the club eight years ago and was treasurer for six years, bakes for all the club's sales, participates in the Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society and always pitches in for the many community projects.

The club supports its community projects through fundraising. Among its community service is support for local food pantries, scholarships for high school graduates, comfort pillows and quilts for hospitalized cancer patients and children, and donations to the Salem Animal Rescue League.

The club meets the first Tuesday of the month at the library. Meetings will resume in September.

Winnipesaukee DAR changes meeting date

WOLFBORO - The Winnipesaukee Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution has moved its meeting date a day earlier to 1 p.m. Friday, May 10, at the Sugar Hill Retirement Community, Route 109A.

This will be the club's last business meeting before its annual luncheon meeting and 90th birthday celebration Saturday, June 8, which also will include an official visit by State Regent Laura M. Kessler. Anyone who has fun ideas for the June 8 meeting is encouraged to share them at the May meeting.

In April, Sheryll Ross, docent of the Clark Museum, talked about the museum's summer calendar and also asked for the members' help as tour guides for the summer. A training day for guides is set for 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, at the museum. Members were told they could attend the training to ask questions and observe; there is no obligation. The tour guide hours are flexible. For more information, contact Ross at 569-5709 or sjross@metrocast.net. DAR is a service organization, so volunteering as a tour guide is a part of that service.

For more about becoming a member, contact Regent Nancy Ramos at 569-936 or nancy.2@myfairpoint.net or registrar Marianne Marcussen at 544-2650 or mmarcussen@earthlink.net.

Derry Garden Club's annual luncheon Friday

DERRY - The Derry Garden Club's next meeting will be its annual luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Promises To Keep restaurant, Bypass 28, during which officers for 2013-2015 will be installed.

The club also is busy preparing for its annual plant sale, which will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 18, rain or shine, at the Masonic Temple, 58 E. Broadway. Anyone who has plants to donate to the sale or plants to be thinned out may call 434-6681.

For more information about the club, a member of the N.H. Federation of Garden Clubs and the National Garden Clubs, go to derrygardenclub.org or call 434-0578.
