Renaissance Faire continues tradition of feeding the needy
The charity event, held each year in the backyard of Bob and Marghi Bean's house at 19 Thorne Road, benefits the New Hampshire Food Bank. Proceeds from this year's fair will also benefit the Rockingham Meals on Wheels and the Shepherd's Pantry, a group of volunteers who provide food to people in need in Windham and surrounding communities.
The fair attracts fairies, ninjas, gypsies, knights, pirates and others who don their period clothing to recreate a scene back in 1588.
Scavenger hunts, jousting, historical encampments, musical acts, storytelling, comedy and bellydancing are among the entertainment planned for the faire.
This year's faire will also feature its first interactive archery range. (See related story, Page 15 of NHWeekend).
More than 45 vendors will be on hand as well, selling jewelry, leather goods, weapons and armor, clothing and other items. Other vendors will demonstrate their crafts.
The fair will be held this weekend and continue next weekend, May 11, 12, 18 and 19, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Ticket prices are $12 for adults, $8 for children ages 5 to 12, and children under 4 are admitted free. For more information, go to nhrenfaire.com.
