MANCHESTER — Marcus Walden’s best and longest outing of the season led New Hampshire to a 3-0 win on Tuesday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium in the first of two dozen games between the Fisher Cats and Portland Sea Dogs this season.

Walden allowed only two hits in his 7 2/3 innings and improved his record to 2-4. He struck out six and walked two.

John Stilson closed it out for the save. He allowed a two-out hit in the ninth and struck out the other four batters he faced.

The Fisher Cats are now 18-21. The Sea Dogs, who lead the Eastern Division, fall to 22-14.

This three-game set continues tonight at 6:35.

Portland did not get a hit until Peter Hissey singled to center with two outs in the sixth.

The Fisher Cats struck for a pair of runs off starter Drake Britton in the bottom of the fourth to open the scoring. John Tolisano had a leadoff double and Kevin Pillar and Clint Robinson delivered run-scoring singles.

Fisher Cats manager Gary Allenson was not in attendance. He left for his home in Florida on Tuesday afternoon to deal with a family matter.
