NHIAA Roundup: Derryfield wins Division III lacrosse showdown
Grant Alenson scored five goals and added two assists to lead Derryfield of Manchester to a 16-5 victory over Hollis/Brookline on Tuesday in a showdown of top Division III boys’ lacrosse teams.
Jim O’Brien and Matt Milne each tallied three goals for Derryfield (13-0). Hollis/Brookline (10-1) received two goals from Ryan Papineau.
Plymouth 9, John Stark 3: At Plymouth, the host Bobcats (10-1) led 2-1 at halftime before pulling away in the second half. Brody Fredericks scored twice for the Generals (5-6).
West 15, Monadnock 4: At Manchester, Ryan Askham had a huge day for the Blue Knights, scoring five goals with five assists and winning 17 of 21 faceoffs. Joe Clement had six goals, while Zach Ziemba racked up seven assists. Talia Cote made eight saves for West (4-8). Dylan Lane scored two goals for the Huskies (6-5).
Bishop Guertin 9, Souhegan 3: In Nashua, Connor Donahue tallied one goal and four assists and teammate Tom Hurley added two goals for the Cardinals (12-3). Souhegan dropped to 6-6. Girls’ lacrosse
Bishop Guertin 14, Bedford 13: At Bedford, Callie Santos and Nicole Pettiglio scored five goals apiece in a battle of playoff-bound Division I teams. Playmaker Caley Prunier recorded four assists, and BG goalie Lauren Trepaney made 12 saves. Averi Fahat picked up seven ground balls, and Carley Caveny had three draw controls for the Cardinals (8-3). Bedford also moved to 8-3.
Londonderry 18, Concord 10: At Londonderry, Alexa Bedell filled the stat sheet with six goals, three assists and two draw controls as the Lancers (10-4) defeated Concord (5-8). Chelsea Lewis, Julia Wasserman and Hannah Kearney all had three goals for the winners.
Souhegan 13, Portsmouth 9: In Portsmouth Monday, Souhegan (11-1) managed to out-last Portsmouth (12-2) behind five goals and two assists from Madison Learned. Devon Parker led the Clippers with three goals.
Pinkerton 4, Manchester Memorial 3 (10 innings): Pinkerton scored the go-ahead run on a two-out RBI single by Matt Marchman that scored Riley Cahill in the top of the 10th inning.
Tom Diskin, Ryan Day and Marchman led the Pinkerton offense with two hits apiece. Ethan Pollock lead the Crusader offense with two hits.
