Dartmouth student charged with rape of another student
HANOVER — A Dartmouth College freshman from London, England, was arrested Wednesday and charged the rape of a fellow college student, a woman he allegedly attacked after trespassing into her unlocked dormitory room, police said.
Parker C. Gilbert, 20, faces four charges of aggravated felonious sexual assault, stemming from the alleged early-morning attack on May 2, police said. He was arrested Wednesday in his dormitory room without incident. Police also searched the room, pursuant to a search warrant.
TheDarmouth.com website, the website of the student newspaper, said Gilbert is on the rubgy team.
Police said an investigation is continuing, and they said they have reason to suspect at least one other woman was attacked by Gilbert. Anyone with information about the allegation is urged to contact Capt. Frank Moran at 643-2222.
Police said Gilbert was arraigned at Lebanon District Court Wednesday afternoon, and his bail was set at $40,000 cash. A probable cause hearing is scheduled for May 20.
Police recommend that Dartmouth students lock their dormitory room doors when they are sleeping and when the room is unoccupied.
