College Baseball: DWC stays alive in NCAAs

The Daniel Webster College continued its best season in program history, defeating MIT, 10-4, in the Division III NCAA Tournament at Harwich, Mass., on Thursday. Alvirne of Hudson product Zach Hurley pitched 5-2/3 innings in relief for the win, notching the school’s first NCAA tourney victory — in any sport. The Eagles (29-11) play another elimination game today at 1 p.m. against Wheaton or Endicott.

Daniel Webster recovered from a three-run deficit, rallying for four runs in the fifth inning.

Devin DeCarteret of Pelham, Josh Chasse and Darrik Marstaller of Keene all had run-scoring hits in the frame, and Rich Lizotte (3-for-5) bashed a two-run homer in the seventh inning.

Tyler Bonin from Campbell High of Litchfield went 2-for-5 with a triple and three RBI. Hurley, who entered in the second inning, allowed five hits and did not allow a run.

Christie is the real deal

We have found Gov. Chris Christie to be the most consistent, the most confident in his abilities, the most tested under fire, and the most likely to regain the White House from a disastrous Democratic regime.
