Three Fisher Cat hurlers combine to pitch shutout

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats couldn't have asked for much more from their pitchers Saturday night.

Sean Nolin, Scott Gracey and Tommy Hottovy didn't allow a run as the Fisher Cats posted a 5-0 road victory against New Britain.

Nolin, New Hampshire's starting pitcher, held New Britain (20-22) to four hits in six innings, and lowered his ERA to 1.17. He struck out five and walked two.

Gracey didn't allow a hit and struck out three in two innings, and Hottovy struck out three of the four batters he faced in the ninth. He surrendered one hit.

Second baseman John Tolisano hit a two-run home run and designated hitter Kevin Ahrens scored twice to lead the New Hampshire offense. Tolisano finished the game with three RBIs.

Catcher Sean Ochinko and center fielder Kevin Pillar each collected two hits for the Fisher Cats. New Hampshire had nine hits in the game, five of which went for extra bases.

The Fisher Cats (21-22) opened the scoring in the third, when Ahrens doubled, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on Tolisano's groundout.

New Hampshire added to its lead when Tolisano hit a two-run home run in the eighth. Ahrens, who reached base on a walk, also scored on the homer.

Tolisano's home run was part of a three-run inning that included Clint Robinson's RBI single that scored Pillar.

The Fisher Cats capped the scoring in the ninth when Adam Loewen scored from third on Pillar's single.

Right fielder Daniel Ortiz had two of New Britain's five hits. New Britain's Logan Darnell allowed one run and three hits in seven innings, but took the loss.
