The New Hampshire Fisher Cats dropped their second game in a row at Portland, Maine, this one 5-4 decision in extra innings with the Sea Dogs on Wednesday.
Heiker Meneses got the game-winning single for Portland (26-18) in the bottom of the 10th inning to score Derrik Gibson, who was pinch running for Christian Vazquez. Vazquez started the rally with a one-out triple.
New Hampshire (23-24) tied it up 4-4 in the seventh inning when Brad Glenn doubled to score Ryan Schimpf. That was the last run the Fisher Cats could manage to push across, however.
Kevin Nolan, Glenn, Adam Loewen, Brian Van Kirk and Sean Ochinko all had two hits for the Fisher Cats. Dustin Antolin suffered the loss. He pitched one inning, gave up two hits and struck out two.
Vazquez was 4-for-4 with two RBI to pace the Portland offense. Pete Ruiz got the win.
The Fisher Cats took leads in the top of the second and fourth innings, but the Sea Dogs came right back in the bottom half each time to take it right back.
The two teams meet again today in Portland at 11 a.m.
