Bishop Libasci to ordain 2 at St. Joseph Cathedral
MANCHESTER — Bishop Peter A. Libasci will ordain Jeffrey A. Paveglio and Michael S. Zgonc to the transitional diaconate at St. Joseph Cathedral at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Men studying for the priesthood are ordained as transitional deacons prior to beginning their final year of study before ordination to the priesthood. Some of the duties assigned to deacons include preaching at Mass, baptizing, and celebrating weddings.
Paveglio, 27, was born in Concord. He graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 2007. During college, he participated in ROTC and received an honorable discharge. He entered St. Mary Seminary in Baltimore in the fall of 2007. At that time he was accepted as a chaplain candidate for the New Hampshire Army National Guard.
His summer parish assignments have included St. John Neumann Parish in Merrimack. This summer he will be serving in Good Shepherd Parish in Berlin.
Zgonc, 30, graduated from the University of Toledo in 2005 and worked as a human resources representative at BAE Systems in Nashua. He entered St. Mary Seminary in Baltimore in the fall of 2008.
His summer parish assignments included the St. Joseph Cathedral in Manchester. This summer he will be serving in Saint Andre Bessette Parish in Laconia.
The Diocese of Manchester currently has 12 men preparing for the priesthood at seminaries in Baltimore, Md., Brighton, Mass., and Providence, R.I.
