NHIAA Roundup: Guertin girls net another win to make it 67 straight
The top-seeded Bishop Guertin of Nashua girls' tennis team extended its winning streak to 67 matches by defeating fifth-seeded Exeter, 6-3, in the Division I semifinals Friday.
Timberlane 6, Trinity 0: At Manchester, Trinity was held to four hits in a game that began Thursday and was completed Saturday at Gill Stadium. Jake Damphousse pitched a complete game for Timberlane, which received four hits from Pat Mahoney and two from Matt Grant. Ryan Slatky had two hits for Trinity, which needs Memorial to beat Nashua South today to qualify for the Division I tournament.
Trinity coach Ed Poisson said the Trinity JV tournament that was scheduled for this weekend has been cancelled because of unplayable field conditions.
Londonderry 6, Winnacunnet 1: At Londonderry, Jake Welch and Ryan Moloney each had two hits Friday to help the Lancers win their final regular-season game. Londonderry will be the No. 1 seed for the Division I tournament, which is scheduled to begin Thursday.
Gilford 3, Belmont 0: At Belmont, Gilford stretched its winning streak to 15 games and recorded its eighth shutout of the season Friday. Lisa Osborne had two hits for Gilford, which did all of its scoring in the top of the seventh.
Derryfield 8, Oyster River 6: At Durham, Brynn Polgrean collected four goals and two assists and Cat Green recorded 11 saves to highlight Derryfield's victory Friday. Becca Murpy and Allie Harris each scored three goals for Oyster River.
