MERRIMACK - A local man motoring on Daniel Webster Highway early Sunday morning apparently fell asleep and crashed his car into the Merrimack Chamber of Commerce informational kiosk, police said.

The accident happened shortly before 5:45 a.m. when a 2004 Acura driven by Matthew Jones, 22, of Merrimack jumped the curb on the northbound side of Daniel Webster Highway sliced between a flag pole and a hydrant before crashing into the information booth, taking out a support wall and leaving the roof pitched precariously over the ground.
The booth is located at the front tip of a large island at the point where Railroad Avenue meets Daniel Webster Highway.

Jones did not require hospital treatment. The accident is under investigation and police have asked anyone who may have seen the crash to call Merrimack Police Department at 424-3774.
