NEW IPSWICH — The former assistant principal for Mascenic Regional High School will be returning to the district to serve as principal at the high school.
Tom Kelly, who served as assistant principal at the school from 2010 to 2012, will replace Trevor Courtney, who will not be returning.
It remains unclear why Courtney is not returning for another year. Shortly after the announcement was made in March that the principal would not return, interim Superintendent Betsey Cox-Buteau refused to say whether Courtney resigned or was terminated.
“It’s a personnel matter, so I can’t comment on that,” she said.
Courtney didn’t respond to calls for comment.
Kelly, who served under Courtney, left the school district in 2012 to work for the National Education Association. He will return to the district on July 1 to begin the school year.
Kelly will be joined in the district by new superintendent Ruthann Goguen, who will be coming to New Hampshire from Ashby, Mass. Goguen will be leaving her post as director of the Hill View Montessori School in Haverhill, Mass. to take the position.
Goguen replaces Superintendent Leo Corriveau, who left Mascenic for the Monadnock Regional School District at the end of last year.
