UPDATED: Man's body recovered from Connecticut River

June 06. 2013 1:34PM

HANOVER -- New Hampshire Fish & Game Dive Team members recovered the body of a 20-year-old man from the Connecticut River where he went for a swim Wednesday with his brother and friends.

Authorities are withholding the man's name, pending family notification. Police said he was a foreign student who attended college in Texas.

The man, who police said was in Hanover to attend his older brother's graduation from Dartmouth College, was last seen about 6 p.m. Wednesday after jumping from a rope swing from the Vermont side of the river. He surfaced once, "then disappeared beneath the surface of the water," according to a news release.

His body was located Thursday morning in about 18 feet of water. Hanover police and fire assisted in the recovery.
