A good ending: Missing Plaistow girl found safe
Plaistow police Lt. William Baldwin said Sophie Cesati, who was reported as a runaway juvenile to police Friday night, was located Saturday night after police followed up on a lead after a day of searching for the Plaistow girl.
"It's a good ending, but a lot of questions need to be answered. It's an ongoing investigation still even though she's been found," Baldwin said, adding that Plaistow police were on their way to pick up the girl at the Dover Police Department.
Baldwin did not elaborate on how the girl was found. Sophie was last seen at the school on Greenough Road around 2:30 p.m. and never boarded the school bus.
Missing person fliers were posted around Plaistow Saturday as the search began.
Earlier in the day, Baldwin said police believed her disappearance may stem from online conversations she's had through social media websites, Baldwin said.
"We know social media played a major (role) in this based on what we found out and the concerning part about when it hits social media is the different people that play on it and read on it and respond through Facebook, Instagram and others," Baldwin said.
She was considered a "missing runaway" based on information developed during the investigation, police said.
"There is no indication that this individual was abducted in any way," Baldwin said. However, police feared she could be in danger.
Baldwin said police believe Sophie was with another person, possibly someone she met online.
Sophie's family gathered at her home Saturday afternoon but was too shaken to talk about the situation.
