Woodsville grabs Division IV title

PLYMOUTH – Woodsville ace Danelle Huntington pitched a complete-game victory, helping the Engineers past Wilton-Lyndeborough, 19-10, in the Division IV girls’ softball title game at Plymouth State University.

“She started doubting herself at one point, but she gutted it out,” said her coach and father, Dana Huntington. “We may have given up 10 runs once or twice this year, but Danelle is usually pretty stingy with runs.”

Kat Emery had three singles for the Engineers. Lottie Page had two doubles and a single, and Abby Simano had two singles.

Wilton-Lyndeborough used three pitchers in the loss. Deanna Davidson started the game and took the loss, and was injured while playing shortstop after being pulled from the game.

Sarah Holka also pitched, as did Sami Bosquet.

Andrea Heck went 3-for-5 in the losing effort, and Tessa Simpson had two hits.

“We had a great season. To get here was really an achievement,” said coach Denny Claire.
