HOOKSETT - Three dogs died and two dogs survived a two-alarm fire this morning at a house on Roy Road in Hooksett.
According to Hooksett Fire Department officials, two of the family's five dogs survived the two-alarm fire early Thursday morning at 8 Roy Road.
"When crews got there this morning, the fire was visible through the roof. The house suffered heavy loss; the majority of the structure is damaged beyond repair," assistant fire chief Dean Jore said.
Sandra and Galen Benjamin are listed as the owners of the house, and according to fire officials, of the four people living in the house, none were children. Jore said the family was probably asleep when the fire started.
Jore said the cause of the fire is still undetermined.

HOOKSETT - Two pets are still unaccounted for after a home was engulfed in a two-alarm fire early Thursday morning.

Four people made it out to safety when the home at 8 Roy Road caught fire about 4 a.m.

The home is located off South Bow Road, and when firefighters arrived, the flames were shooting from the home and quickly went to two alarms. By 6 a.m., the fire was under control although firefighters were still pouring water on it.

According to Hooksett Fire Chief Michael Williams, two pets from the single family residence are still unaccounted for, while another two are safe. No one in the family was injured, Williams said, but the fire was heavily involved in the back of the house and required roughly 40,000 gallons of water to put out.

Williams said the State Fire Marshal has been requested to investigate the fire, and he said the cause is still undetermined. Fire departments from Auburn, Pembroke, Candia, Goffstown and Chester assisted with mutual aid.
