Tibetan monk at Buddhist center

NEWMARKET — Aryaloka Buddhist Center will host a talk by Tibetan monk Dhardo Rinpoche on Wednesday, June 19, from 7 to 9 p.m. at 14 Heartwood Circle.

Listen to his personal account about traditional Tibetan practice from the present holder of the Dhardo lineage.

His predecessor, the late Dhardo Rinpoche, himself the 13th in the Dhardo lineage, was regarded by many to have been a living Bodhisattva, a being who strives for Enlightenment for the benefit of all beings.

The present Dhardo Rinpoche was invited by members of Aryaloka, who plan to build a monument — called a stupa — in honor of his predecessor.

During his visit, the present Dhardo Rinpoche will dedicate a site on the Aryaloka grounds for the building of the stupa, which will hold relics of the late Dhardo and be a symbol of Enlightenment and focal site for practice.

For more information about the stupa project, visit www.aryaloka.org/get-involved/the-stupa-project.

Cozzens is the author of “The Changing Face of the Priesthood, Sacred Silence: Denial and the Crisis in the Church,” and “Faith That Dares to Speak, Freeing Celibacy,” and the editor of “The Spirituality of the Diocesan Priest.”

His books have been translated into seven languages.
