Hooksett official says no incentives from town for Bass Pro Shops
He said he was unfamiliar that many towns around the country had offered financial incentives to lure Bass Pro Shops, saying that type of business arrangement would be unusual in New Hampshire.
"I am very happy this is happening," Shankle said. "It is a great thing. This could get the ball rolling on other things."
"If predictions are correct, this will bring in a lot of traffic from far away.
Right now the closest Bass Pro to here is down by (Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.)," he said. "People drive up to 70 miles to go to the store. Now for northern New England, we are going to be easier to get to, and we also have the added advantage of no sales tax - cheaper to buy a boat here than in Massachusetts."
