Derry Legion wins a pair

A bases loaded walk in the top of the seventh inning gave Derry the winning edge, 7-6, in American Legion District B play Saturday.

The game was a back-and-forth affair, with Derry (4-0) ahead 2-0 and 6-2 in the game, but each time Londonderry (0-1) came back to tie.

Chris Gerossie doubled to lead off the seventh inning inning for Derry and ended up on third after two walks. Grant Walker drew another free pass and Gerossie came in to score, then closed out the game by pitching the bottom of the seventh.

Justin Bundzinski went 3-for-4 with four RBIs, including a triple, and Matt Marchand 2-for-4 with two RBIs. for Derry. Londonderry was paced by Christian Bourgea, who went 2-for-5 with an RBI.

Derry plays at Holman Stadium against host Nashua tonight at 7 p.m.

On Friday night Derry routed Dover 14-0 in seven innings in another Americn Legion District B contest.

Josh Yarhez threw all seven innings for Derry, allowing two hits and two walks and striking out seven. Gerossie went 3-for-4 with a triple and six RBIs, Brandon Paquin went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Joey Murphy was 3-for-3 with three RBIs.
