Greenwood leads Manchester East over Danville in L.L. tourney


Host Manchester East defeated Danville 5-2 in the second round of the Little League District I tournament Friday night.

Noah Greenwood threw a complete-game six-hitter and struck out seven to earn the win.

Joey Johnson went 2-for-2 with a two-run home run and scored two runs to lead the East offense and Jack Fitzgerald added a two-run double.

Manchester East, 2-0, will play on Monday night against the winner of Friday night's Salem/Manchester South game.

In first-round action, East beat Nashua, 3-0, Salem defeated Derry, 15-1, Manchester North topped Windham, 6-1, and Bedford blanked Jaffrey-Rindge, 10-0.
