Two hurt as car hits pole in Deering

Two people were injured Saturday when their car went off the road and hit a telephone pole in Deering Police Chief James Pushee said.

Pushee said a 21-year-old woman and her 14-year-old male passenger were heading east on Longswood Road shortly after 3 p.m. Saturday when the accident happened. Pushee would not release their names Saturday, saying he was still notifying family.

He said both occupants suffered serious, but not life-threatening, injuries. The boy was flown to the University of Massachusetts Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, Mass., and the woman was taken by ambulance to Concord Hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Pushee said speed may have been a factor in the crash.
