Relief pitcher Kyler Bosse held Bedford scoreless over the last two innings and gave Manchester North time to rally for a 7-6 victory Tuesday in the winners’ bracket of the New Hampshire District I Little League 11-12-year-old tournament at Manchester North.
Defending state champ Bedford (2-1) fell into the losers’ bracket of the double-elimination tournament and North (3-0) advanced to Monday’s winners’ bracket final against Salem, an 11-0 winner against Manchester East Tuesday night.
District I Commissioner Don Kirkland announced Tuesday night that Salem will host North on Monday at 6 p.m.
In Manchester, in the home sixth with the scored knotted 6-6, North’s Brendan Courtney singled with two outs and galloped to third base on a single to right by Griffin Hamel. Courtney drew the outfield throw and the ball sailed past the bag, which allowed Courtney to score the winning run.
Bosse entered the game after Bedford tied it on an RBI single from Noah Hughes, plating slugger Graham Reynolds in the fourth inning. Bosse blanked Bedford the rest of the way, allowing no hits, two walks with three strikeouts.
Bedford roared out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning. Reynolds, who had two of his team’s seven hits, bashed a two-run homer. Spencer Adams and Hughes each doubled and Jacob Collins also drove in a run.
North responded with four runs in the home first as Kyle Swetland highlighted the frame with a two-run single.
In the second inning North took a 6-5 lead when Bosse (walk) and Jaken Pellerin (single) set the table for Swetland and Hamel (three hits), who each had an RBI base hit.
Salem was led by winning pitcher Jake Delaney who highlighted the offense with a two-run double.
