Man and 12-year-old passenger injured in motorcycle crash

SALEM — A Windham man and his 12-year-old passenger sustained head injuries in a one-vehicle motorcycle crash Thursday afternoon.

Salem police responded to the accident scene at about 3:45 p.m. and found the 1982 Honda motorcycle on the front lawn of 174 Millville St. Police said the driver, Timothy Holland, 38, and his passenger were both wearing helmets.

Both were taken to Lawrence (Mass.) General Hospital by the Salem Fire Department, where police said the passenger was treated and released and the driver was admitted.

Police said it does not appear that excess speed was the cause of the crash and it is unknown if drugs and/or alcohol were contributing factors to the crash. The Salem Police Technical Accident Reconstruction Team (TAR) will be conducting the investigation.
