Woodlock All-Stars advance

The Manchester Babe Ruth Tom Woodlock All-Star finished the job. The 15-year-old all-stars beat Londonderry 11-1 in five innings on Sunday at Livingston Park to complete a sweep of the best-of-three District II series.

The Woodlocks thus advanced to the state tournament, which begins Saturday in Keene. Manchester's first game will be Sunday against the District III winner.

Jordan Marquis collected two hits and scored two runs for the winners, while Grant Corbett cracked a two-run double. Danny O'Connor drove in two runs and scored a pair.

That was more than plenty of offense for Jordan Bussiere, who pitched four innings and allowed only one hit and one unearned run. He walked three and fanned nine. J.P. Somers closed the game with a 1-2-3 fifth, striking out two of the three batters he faced.
