Sexual assault charge at Easter Seals in Manchester
MANCHESTER — A man accused of assaulting a co-worker at Easter Seals, 200 Zachary Road, on two occasions in June pleaded innocent Wednesday in Circuit Court-Manchester District Division to charges of simple assault, false imprisonment, sexual assault and attempted sexual assault.
Police prosecutor Lt. Peter Favreau requested $10,000 cash/surety bail for Salah Ali, 56, of 59 Garden Drive, but because Ali has no previous criminal record, Judge Gregory Michael reduced bail to $5,000 cash/surety.
Court documents show a 30-year-old woman told police that Ali grabbed her head and kissed her on the lips on or about June 12. She said the second incident occurred June 24, telling police that Ali chased her down a hall, picked her up and carried her about 10 feet before pinning her against a wall and sexually assaulting her.
According to court documents, Ali told police that although the woman told him she had a boyfriend and wasn’t interested in him, he still thought she liked him. So he did not stop, despite the woman saying “no” and telling him “stop.”
If Ali is released on bail, conditions bar contact with the woman and bar him from her residence. Trial was set for Aug. 13.
