Relief fund set up to aid 2 injured in Elliot ER attack

MANCHESTER — People's United Bank has set up a relief fund to help two families harmed by a brutal emergency room assault at Elliot Hospital on Monday.

Anyone interesting in donating to the Elliot Hospital Assault Relief Fund may do so via a link set up on the Elliot Hospital website.

Licensed nursing assistant Don Wyman suffered multiple fractures and was near death when a colleague found him lying face down on the floor in a secure area while patient Ansel Kinglocke allegedly tried to use Wyman's employee key card to leave, police said.

Kinglocke allegedly also punched Melissa Clermont, 33, in the face, knocking her to the ground. She is also a licensed nursing assistant. She was treated for injuries and is no longer under hospital care, a nursing supervisor said.

Wyman remained hospitalized at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston Friday, a hospital spokesman said.

Kinglocke, 33, of Manchester had been held at the hospital's emergency room since July 5 while he waited for space to open at New Hampshire Hospital, the state's psychiatric hospital, police have said. Kinglocke was to be involuntarily committed at the state hospital. By Monday, he became agitated and tried to escape Elliot's psychiatric examination area, police said.

Kinglocke was arraigned July 9 and ordered to undergo a psychiatric competency hearing.
