Seabrook mother arraigned on charges she fed two children bleach

BRENTWOOD —- A judge is now weighing bail for a Seabrook mother who was formally charged Wednesday morning with forcing her two children to drink bleach at their home three weeks ago.

Wendy Wright, 33, 15 True Road, was arraigned from the Rockingham County jail on two counts of attempted first-degree assault for allegedly trying to poison her children, ages 6 and 7.

Seabrook police were called to Wright's home June 18 in response to a 911 call.

Wright was found unconscious inside the home when police responded, according to Seabrook Detective Scott Mendes, the police prosecutor.

Mendes argued for Wright to be held on $500,000 bail on each of the two charges, saying she posed a danger to her children. He also asked that she have no contact with her children or their biological father.

Public defender Anthony Naro, who sat alongside Wright at the jail, said such high bail was unreachable for his client and family, calling it essentially a no-bail hold.

"This case comes down to mental illness. Undertreated and perhaps undiagnosed mental illness," Naro said.

Affidavits related to Wright's arrest remained sealed Wednesday.

Judge Michael Sullivan, who conducted the arraignment via video, said he planned to issue an order on bail sometime Wednesday.

Christie is the real deal

We have found Gov. Chris Christie to be the most consistent, the most confident in his abilities, the most tested under fire, and the most likely to regain the White House from a disastrous Democratic regime.
