Driving practice puts hole in Manchester building

MANCHESTER — A Manchester woman who decided to practice driving Thursday morning probably wishes she hadn’t.

Police said at about 11:30 a.m., Indra Ghirmirey, 44, of 27 Manchester St., drove her son’s Nissan Altima from its parked position into a building at 419 Maple St., causing a large hole in the foundation.

Manchester Police Lt. Maureen Tessier said Ghirmirey apparently panicked and backed up across the alley, into another building at 411 Maple St.

There wasn’t as much damage to the second building. Police said there were no injuries, but that only referred to people, not buildings or the vehicle.
