Dover police: Maine man had 22 pounds of marijuana

DOVER — A Maine man who allegedly was transporting 22 pounds of marijuana was arrested Tuesday by state and Dover police on a charge of possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

Police said they conducted “a controlled delivery” of the marijuana, which they said was transported by James Barnes, 30, of Wells, Maine. Police did not elaborate on what the controlled delivery involved. State police referred questions to Dover police, but a Dover police sergeant referred questions back to state police.

Barnes is scheduled to appear today in Dover District Court.
